Job description: Solicitor
The candidate will be responsible for providing advice and taking action on policy and hearing matters relating to the organization's regulatory activities in Alberta's utility sector (electricity and utility gas pipeline facilities; electricity and gas rates; electricity and gas markets). Identify, interpret, and advise the groups on legal implications of complex utilities issues requiring expert knowledge of regulatory law. Represent the organization at public hearings and Court of Appeal. Advise, liaise, and negotiate with industry, the public, government, and outside counsel on legal, regulatory and other associated aspects of the organization's activities. Manage and/or conduct legal actions initiated by or involving the organization and participate in broader corporate initiatives.
The candidate should have LL.B. degree with 5-10 years of related progressive experience. Membership in good standing of Law Society of Alberta required. Court and hearing experience a plus.
