Job description: Under general direction test, implement, maintain and control the organization’s (primarily the centralized applications for Loews Hotels) databases across multiple platforms such as MS SQL 2000, MS SQL 2005, Oracle, and DB2 databases on a MS Window Operating System Server platform. Monitor transaction activities and improve the performance of all databases. Report abnormal discrepancies to Database Technical Project Leader. Participate in meetings in the development of standards and procedures affecting database management, design and maintenance. Work with Senior Database staff by maintaining databases for test and production purposes for assigned projects. Monitor the performance of all databases for the organization (primarily the centralized applications for Loews Hotels). Monitor all database backups and report any failures of this process. On a project basis, monitor and provide statistical information on system and application performance and provide recommendations for corrective actions to the Database Technical Project Leader.
Position based in White Plains, NY.
Requirements:
Bachelor degree in Computer Science or a related discipline and at least four or more years in the design and administration of logical and relational databases in diverse and technological environments, in file structures, design and retrieval, access methods, control and development of standards, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Requires excellent analytical ability, strong communication skills, strong judgment and the ability to work effectively with IT Management and IT staff members. Should possess a strong background and technical skills working with the follow database platforms: Oracle on Windows Operating System, MS SQL 2005 AND MS SQL 2000.
