Data Warehouse Delivery Director
Data Warehouse Delivery Director is part of our Clients Business Intelligence & Data Services IT organization, and will be responsible for managing the delivery and operations of our Teradata-based data warehouse platform. The IT Director will provide vision, business partnership, delivery and team leadership skills needed to deliver world-class, timely IT solutions and services.
Key Responsibilities:
Application Vision and Stewardship-
Develops and continuously refines application vision and roadmap (both functional and technical) for data warehousing and BI solutions, aligning to business objectives.
Demonstrates thought leadership on data warehousing, and data management topics.
Promotes strong and creative solution leadership among IT and business partner teams.
Influences application solutions and ensures successful outcomes.
Business Partnership and Communication-
Demonstrates a thorough understanding of business objectives that drive and shape technology requirements and application solutions.
Influences business requirements and priorities, and is accountable for successful adoption of GBIS applications.
Represents BIDS services, capabilities, architecture and capacity during all stages of the solution life cycle
Ensures support of key business processes and appropriate levels of integration / automation.
Promotes data ownership and governance practices within business partner organizations.
Global Solution Delivery & Support-
Defines, staffs, and supports a team operating model for data warehousing services, including coverage for the following subject areas: Architecture / Design, Data Integration, Operational Processes, Solutions / Project leadership, Customer Service Excellence, Service Delivery Integration
Leads technology delivery teams globally for the data warehousing solution area
Promotes project collaboration between requirements / functional resources, development teams, and project leadership / sponsorship
Provides leadership to ensure that capabilities delivered align with original business objectives, application service levels, IT strategies, and design intent
Defines proactive activities and tasks required for optimization of stability and performance of applications and business processes within the data warehouse architecture
Directs and influences appropriate support teams (internal and third party) to ensure service levels are met.
Service Delivery Partnership-
Forges strong working relationships with IT to ensure delivery commitments are consistently met.
Responsible for building and maintaining business and IT relationships and communication for BIDS services
Team Leadership & Organizational Responsibilities-
Promotes a strong combination of functional leadership, technical expertise, and business process skills across the global delivery team. Ensures the teams services are forward-looking and appropriate to business processes, integration standards, and architecture guidelines.
Actively seeks and drives opportunities for continuous improvement of applications, during teams project work and for internal processes.
Possesses, develops, and applies knowledge of trends, value and use of data warehousing / BI applications, and closely follows the evolution of our Clients business models and organizational priorities
Manages and mentors leadership team members
Required Technical Skills and Experience
BS or MS in Computer Management Information Systems or other related degree
10-12 years experience with functional / technical aspects of data warehousing and BI delivery, and 10+ years IT experience
Management experience with technical delivery teams in business-facing roles is highly desirable
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Track record of planning and delivering cost effective results
Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, conflict resolution, and customer service skills
Proven project leadership skills with the ability to multi-task, delegate and prioritize tasks.
Must be able to manage and influence on and off-shore development, integration, and quality assurance teams.
Financial acumen to manage and adhere to plans, budgets and variances within the IT function.
Proven ability to evaluate and manage risk
Must have experience in working with a global staff and with outsourced partners near-shore and offshore
Direct experience with Teradata data warehouse solutions highly desirable
Direct experience with MicroStrategy and/or Cognos reporting tools desirable
Direct experience with Informatica PowerCenter desirable
