Job description: Auditor (Senior) - New Haven & Hartford, CT
If you are the stereotypical accounting type, we ever so politely suggest that you look at a different opening as this client will not be a fit for you. look, we work with a ton of fabulous client companies and some that are just good solid companies.
So far we have been able to lose the companies that would qualify as "jerk-filled." These guys definitely fall under the "fabulous" classification as they just treat their employees incredibly well for a regional public accounting firm.
They are looking for a an Internal Financial Auditor who possesses technical knowledge sufficient to supervise staff and in-charge accountants; who can develop quality client relationships; join and actively participate in firm’s primarily medically related clientele; who can develop involvement in community activities and outside organizations.
But my accounting friend there's much more...
You'll be expected to begin to manage small engagements including budgeting, supervising and billing while becoming aware of opportunities to provide additional services to existing clients.
You will need to be cognizant of the time spent on engagements in relation to the budget established and communicate engagement status to the manager or partner involved.
How about meeting chargeable hour goals as set by the firm? Now when it gets down to brass tax, they are going to want you, if you're assigned primarily to financial statement engagements to develop a command of GAAP, OCBOA, unique or specialized accounting principles, and financial statement presentations while obtaining a thorough understanding of generally accepted auditing standards and common audit procedures and techniques and you'll assume responsibility for the preparation of financial statements and required disclosures.
They are asking for a lot of you, but they are willing to treat you accordingly as well.
The minimum expectations for your background is at least 3 years of public accounting experience and have sat for the exam. What is preferred is a CPA with 5+ years preferably from a small to midsized firm with some medical work while in public.
Look, let's call this what it is.
This is a CPA firm that wants to hire another CPA who has potential to get their name on the door. If that's you then we should hear from you because they want a very personable and promotable individual that will make them shine in the eyes of their clients.
